

KORB, Ursula Herta, 76, of Sandston, Va, passed away April 1, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospice with her family by her side. She was born on July 1, 1949, in Bruck In Der Oberpfalz, Germany, the eldest daughter of the late Heinrich Christian and Herta Franziska Korb. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents Bruno and Johanna Kässler, and paternal grandparents Christian and Wilhelmine Korb. She is survived by her three siblings, Jurgen Korb, Sylvia Korb and Sonja Korb; one niece, Emily Wickens; cousin, Bruno Kässler (Maria) and a close family friend, Harlan Brubaker.
Ursula moved with her family to Canada in 1956 and then to the United States in 1964. Upon arriving in the United States, she attended Highland Springs High School where she graduated from in 1966 at the age of 16.
Ursula began working for Southern States Cooperative after graduating from HSHS. It was there she learned to code COBOL and began her career in IT. After leaving Southern States, Ursula went to work at MCV which created an opportunity for her to move to, and work in Long Island, NY. Upon returning to Richmond, Ursula worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and then transition to SEC Computer Company in 1978 as a project manager. She stayed with the company as it changed ownership to Laywer’s Title Insurance Company and finally Land America Financial Group. She held multiple positions during her 29-year tenure and retired as Vice President of Communications Support from LandAmerica in July 2007.
Ursula loved gardening, reading, watching hummingbirds, doing the Sunday crossword puzzle, and doing crafts such as knitting and cross-stitching. She especially loved the television show Monk as well as the Monk mystery novels.
A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Nelsen Funeral Home chapel located at 4650 South Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henrico Fire Fighter Foundation, henricofirefighterfoundation.org, or the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org.
