William Lloyd Grubbs, Jr.

GRUBBS, William “Willy or Billy” Lloyd, 70 of Henrico, Virginia died on July 29,2017 from complications due to pancreatic cancer treatments. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anne Hanvey Grubbs and their two children Julie Waitman (Tommy) and Will Grubbs (Tiffany). He has five beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Madison, Cole, Ella and Averie. Willy also leaves behind one brother, Lewis Grubbs (JoAnn) of Raleigh, NC and a niece Sarah Avett (Scott) of Concord, NC, a sister-in-law Charlene Sweeney of Henrico, VA, treasured friend Gail Graham of Hopewell, VA and many other cherished friends and family.

Willy is predeceased by his mother and father, William L. Grubbs, Sr. and Adele Rae Grubbs. He worked for Dupont for 46 years until his retirement. He had a love of woodworking, cooking, cruising, and always carried a deep compassion for others. He was a member of the Varina Masonic Lodge #272, AF&AM.

After his retirement, he and his friend Calvin Satterwhite (91) made wooden cars (over 5000) to send with missionaries all over the world bringing joy to children’s faces and reminding them that “Jesus loves me.” The family will accept visitors at Bon Air Baptist Church on Monday August 7, 2017 from 1:30 to 2:30 with a celebration of life and reception immediately following at 2:30.
