Godsey, Wilson Douglas, Jr. “Buck”, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Christina Hilliard; parents, Wilson and Rose Lee Godsey. Born on March 22, 1941, Buck was an extremely hard worker and started Godsey and Son Inc., officially, in 1984. He and his son, Douglas, worked as a team until his retirement in 2007. Douglas remained in the company and took it to heights Buck never imagined. He was so proud. He started racing late model sportsman races in the 70’s and continued to race until 2004. Buck loved the sport and loved, even more, that Douglas joined him. They were quite the show at any race they were in. After retirement, he started his own machine shop and mastered any project he had. He’ll be missed by anyone who knew him. Mostly he knew how much he was loved. Buck is survived by his wife of 52 years, ten months, one week, and one day, Judy Samuels Godsey; his loving children, Cheryl Green, Douglas and wife, Sherri, and Margaret and husband, Bryan Blackburn. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Erica and husband, Adam Davis, Madison Kayla, and William Dawson. The blessings continued with three great-grandchilren, Miranda Hope, Noah Jace, and Ambriel Davis. Also left to cherish his memory, a very special niece, close to his heart, Sherry Bruce; and one brother, Charles and his wife, Nancy Godsey. Friends are invited to a Visitation on Thursday, October 30 from 2pm - 4 pm and 6 pm - 8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231; where a funeral service will be conducted Friday, October 31 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Washington Memorial Park.
