

“D” passed away comfortably at home on Sunday, April 5, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family in her 95th year (Stevensville, Ontario). Predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Norbie Simms. Devoted mother of Stephen Simms and Joanne (Simms) Moore. Dedicated grandmother of Jacob (Samantha), Calvin (Darby), Maxwell and Curtis.
Donna lived a purposeful life filled with laughter.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and raised in the Maritimes. She served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war. Moved from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to Ontario, raising her children in St Catharines. Donna proudly worked for the federal government, spanning several decades, most notably as special assistant to the Speaker of the House of Commons.
Papa and D enjoyed a long retirement travelling between Florida and Sherkston Shores following the Blue Jays.
Her leisure time in later years was spent sitting with Jax the cat, reading, computer games, playing cards, ‘scratchies’, day trips to casinos and attending the Adult Day Program at Gilmore Lodge making new friends.
Her family wish to express heartfelt thankfulness to the special people that supported D in her final days.
A memorial mass will be held at Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd. N, Ridgeway, on Monday April 20th at 11 o’clock. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Snyder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Society, Niagara Chapter in her memory.
