Alexis was born and raised in Delphi, Indiana, and was a graduate of Delphi High School, Indiana University, and Wayne State University. She served as a speech pathologist in Hazel Park, Michigan, for over fifteen years. Prior to that, she dedicated her time to working with special needs adults, teaching essential life skills.
She loved gardening, reading, golfing, and spending time with her large circle of friends. Alexis brought joy to every room she entered; it was only fitting that her last name was Glowe.
Alexis is survived by her daughters, Heather and Erin Glowe (Scott Pena), her beloved grandson, Dominic Pena, aka "her special guy," and her brother Steve Smith (Judy). She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Glowe; her sister, Caren Burton; and her parents, Charles and Jane Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24th, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Rd, Rochester, MI 48307. A reception will follow at Kruse and Muer at 327 S. Main St, Rochester, at 12:15 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Nature Conservancy, 4219 Woodward Ave #302, Detroit, MI 48201, or through their website at nature.org.
