Andrea Jean Cooley, age 81, of Shelby Township, Michigan passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. For high school, Andrea attended the Shrine of Little Flower before earning her Masters in Psychology from Oakland University. Andrea had a prolific career as a counselor for the Oakland County Youth Assistance program; there, she was able to heal and support some of the most vulnerable among us. Later in life she met her beloved husband Robert Shigenaka and they were wed on May 31st, 1986. At home, she liked to slow down and do some painting or spend time caring for her garden. Andrea was also a proud supporter for the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
She is survived by her husband Robert Shigenaka; children Erin Easton, Ryan Carr, Bradley Shigenaka, and Jeffrey Shigenaka; grandchild Dakota Carr; and brother Bradley Cooley.
The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. A private service was held.
