Barbara Ann Stemmer

She was born to the late Martin and Eleanor Stemmer on November 24, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan. Barbara graduated from Rochester High School in 1957. For over forty years, Barbara had a successful career as Risk Manager for Crittenton Hospital and Bon Secours Hospital.

She is preceded in death by her parents Martin and Eleanor Stemmer, sister Mary Hansen and brother-in-law Darwin Hansen. She is survived by her beloved children Ramona (Scott) McDavid, Sean (Laura) Kurt, and Dana (John) Lesser; grandchildren Adam McDavid, Trystan (Makenna) Kurt, Mackenzie Kurt, Garrett Lesser, and Payton Lesser; and her beloved cat Lady Bella.

Barbara loved her family unconditionally and cherished every minute spent with them whether in person or through many phone calls. She never missed an opportunity to express how proud she was of each of them. Family gatherings were always filled with games, laughter and special moments.

Barbara loved to read and enjoyed gardening. She spent many hours knitting and coloring and had a love for music. Barbara treasured time spent with close friends. She was active in a ladies Gourmet Group and the Rochester High School Alumni.

A Celebration of Life for Barbara will be held on Friday August 18, 2023. Family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a memorial service to begin at 1:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester, Michigan. For those that cannot attend Barbara's memorial service in person, it will be available via livestream by clicking the "view livestream" button on this page.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association and Leader Dogs for the Blind.
