

Beloved and devoted wife of the late Billy Fred McCarrell Sr., for 67 years; loving mother to Shelia Wilson, Susan Ayotte, Billy (Stacey) McCarrell Jr., Jennifer (David) Adkins, and James (Kristyn) McCarrell; grandmother of Jamie, T.J., Erik, Amanda, Koryn, Larissa, B.J., Chelsea, Meghan, Austin, and Alexis; great-grandmother of Leila, Tyler, Zachary, Shane, Kai, Kalle, Kobe, Skylar, Kasen, Bryer, and Kord; great-great-grandmother of Bentley and Bryson; Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her parents William and Lou Ella (Gardner) Malone, sons-in-law RJ Wilson and Kurt Ayotte; and great-grandson Sean.
Betty was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee on December 16, 1933. She graduated from Lenoir City High School in the class of 1952. She married Billy McCarrell on February 2, 1952 in Lenoir City. In 1957, she and Billy moved the family to Highland Park, Michigan so Billy could work for Ford Motor Company. Betty worked as a teacher’s aide for Hazel Park Schools for many years.
Betty knew her way around the kitchen and made sure all who happened to stop by left with full bellies. Her love for sweets also ensured there was always something delicious to top off the visit.
Betty’s family will receive all for a visitation on Sunday, June 18th, 2023 from 1 – 6 p.m., at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 19th at Van Hoosen Jones Cemetery Chapel, located at 482 E. Tienken Rd in Rochester Hills.
