

BEHRENDT, Carol Ann, age 85, of Rochester Hills, peacefully left this earthly life and joyfully entered Life Eternal on January 8, 2014. She was born December 12, 1928, in the family home in Detroit, Michigan to Torval and Mildred Thompson. She was a woman of faith since her baptism into the Lutheran Church as an infant. A Rochester resident since 1960, she and her late husband were active members of St. John Lutheran Church for the last 54 years. Carol also was a member of the Crittenton Hospital Auxiliary where she spent many hours as a volunteer in the hospital gift shop along with her dear friend, Ginnie Nowicki. She was the cherished wife of Carl William Behrendt, whom she married January 28, 1949, and who preceded her in death on August 31, 2002. Beloved mother of Carlene (Dr. Anthony) Nehra of Rochester Hills, Caron (Jeffrey) Heimbuck of Atherton CA, Douglas (Cara) Behrendt of Crawfordville, FL and Kurt (Catherine) Behrendt of Rockford, MI. Cherished grandmother of Joshua Verkerke, Terese and Anthony Nehra, Clare Hobbs, Christopher, Jason and Zachary Heimbuck, Christopher and Carly Behrendt. Loving great-grandmother of Emma, Elle, Fischer and Charlotte with another on the way. Sister-in law of Elaine Len Arft and Edeen and Clay Hufnagel. Also left to mourn her passing is her dear friend and “Special Daughter”, Joel Lizotte. Beside her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother Torval Thompson and his wife, Rosemary. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester 48307. The family will receive friends at PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME, 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester on Friday, January 17, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions in Carol’s name may be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church and School Foundation or to Hospice of Michigan, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church. For the past eleven years Carol made her home at Sanctuary At Bellbrook in Rochester Hills and her family is most grateful to them for the love and support they showed to Carol and her family at that time.
