Gail & family,

I only just learned of Chuck's passing and wanted to send condolences.   It's been sometime since I last saw him but he always kept in touch at Christmas or I heard from his Uncle Harold telling me of the family.   I am a distant cousin of Charles and Helen Linn.  Those two always kept my mother (Elizabeth Baier Moore) and I in the loop.   You have my deepest sympathy over your loss.

Gail and Family:

We both met Chuck our senior year at Butler High School.  He became a close and very good friend to us.  Jay went to your wedding, Gail,  driving from Huntsville with Jim Kaiser and Ernie Banzhof.  Over the years he's visited Huntsville and we were able to have a meal with him and catch up.  He was a kind, generous man.  We will miss his visits.  

All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers.  May God bless you all and keep your memories happy.

Dear Gael, 

I was informed of your big loss by Jim Young. 
In the name of all the french colleagues of Chuck, I would like to express our deep condolences. 

What Chuck was representing to us and especially to me ?
I started out my career in 1995 in Renold Automotive in Calais and got to speak with my american colleagues namely Chuck and Jim on a daily basis.
It was so much joy and fun to work with both of them. 
I knew I'd miss this relationship before I quit the company in Sept. 2001.
All my colleagues liked Chuck. 
He was so welcoming when we were visiting clients in Detroit, making us discover the American culture, visit the best restaurants, and you know how picky french people can be about food quality...
I remember we attended a hockey game together, he made me visit the Niagara Falls, drive some US trucks & cars, he even brought me to the Hooters ;-).
The other thing that made Chuck so popular among his colleagues was that he was always positive and kind. 
 I remember we incidentally met an ex-colleague of Chuck from INA who said " he's the best sales guy in the world", I was not surprised to hear that.  
One of the incredible thing about Chuck was his will to maintain friendship relationships through the years. 
I never stopped chatting with him through emails thanks to Chuck. Sometimes he would send me wake-up emails "Still out there?".

I am also grateful for Chuck having arranged a one month stay for my 15 year old daughter in a Detroit family back in summer of '16.
She has been much more fluent since then and could experience the American culture from the inside: that was a lifetime experience for her ! By that time, I had an opportunity to meet Chuck again and for the last time unfortunately. 

Chuck was a really unique person professionally and personally for me, among the few individuals that make this planet sweeter, I will never forget him.

Gail and family - I was sorry to hear of Chuck's passing and I send my sincere condolences.  Chuck was a colleague of mine in the automotive industry for more than 30 years and he was a consummate car guy.  We were part of a team that worked on many interesting automotive projects over the years and Chuck was one of the best at his craft.  RIP old friend.

Here is my sweet memory of Chuck.
Every summer, our Michigan Winkel cousins looked forward to fresh tomatoes and sweet corn from the farm here in IL!  A few years ago, the Bob and Ed Winkel families co-hosted the Winkel reunion here in IL.  Of course, the request was to have sweet corn.
That summer, IL experienced a serious drought and there was no sweet corn to be found in IL.  Not a problem for Chuck who arrived with a boatload of sweet corn - from MI!!
The day was saved and everyone enjoyed their sweet corn all thanks to Chuck!
