

David was born to Harvey and Ruth Ehlfeldt in East Detroit, Michigan on May 28, 1947. He grew up in East Detroit and graduated from Lutheran High East. After high school, David went on to attend Western Michigan University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Upon graduating from Western, David began working for Chrysler Automotive, working in various roles over a career spanning 37 years.
David met the love of his life Kathee during his time at Western, and the two were married on April 4, 1970. They had two children: Scott and Jason Ehlfeldt.
David enjoyed being a musician in his leisure time. He played trumpet with several groups including Troy Community Orchestra and sang in several choral groups through the church. He also very much enjoyed camping. He and Kathee went on hundreds of camping trips and traveled to 46 of the 48 states in the continental United States. Their favorite spots included Groveland Oaks, South Haven, MI, and especially the annual family trip to Cedar Point.
David is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Ehlfeldt, their two children: Scott (with his wife Rachel) and Jason Ehlfeldt, and their three grandchildren: Allison Ehlfeldt, Jacob Ehlfeldt, and Ayden Ehlfeldt.
