Dominic Wayne Edwards was born on April 20, 1953, in Troy, OH., to Henry and Laura Pauline Edwards. Dominic grew up in Hazard, KY., where his education pursuits began, and later on got his Diploma in Hazel Park, MI. Throughout his life, Dominic was known for his outstanding work ethic in painting, remodeling homes, pushing others in his crafted skills, making a lasting impact on everyone to whom he never said, "NO", and the greatest gift he gave was showing that family is chosen by the heart. In 1973 Dominic began his employment with Chrysler Warren Truck Plant in the paint shop, towards the end of his journey at Chrysler he was paint-sanding on the powder deck, people there would say Dominic didn't talk or smile much, but he was very fluent with 4-letter words. On January 5, 1991, he married Mannuella, later moved to his field of dreams in Emmett, and on December 20, 2002, he shed a tear, he knew then that retirement life with his beloved wife would begin. However, before he left Chrysler he enlisted the assistance of his best friend Chester with painting side jobs, which led to another twenty-plus-year career, and memories.
Dominic was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Laura Pauline Edwards, one step-son; Jamal, and two siblings Jackie, and William Edwards, and man's best friends: Lady, Miles, and Ray. Over the years, Dominic has accomplished much, one is his beautiful legacy as a man who opened his heart and home to children that weren't biologically his, a memorable quote, " A father is not by blood, but by love - and that made him extraordinary." that reflects fatherhood, loving nature, generosity of spirit Dominic will be remembered for devoting his time to family, and friendship with others.
Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Dominic's life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2025 from 3-8pm and on Wednesday October 15, 2025 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester. Interment will be at Christian Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 521 East Hamlin Road in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Dominic's love, encouraging words, and spirit will remain with us always. As we celebrate his life, we also acknowledge the gift of his life by being the best example as a husband, dad, Papa, brother, and friends are a beautiful legacy.
"Geraldine" For a dad who opened his heart to children that weren't biologically his, to me, that’s fatherhood, he gave unconditional love, harsh words of encouragement when needed (not) and a timely generosity spirit was enough for us all.
