

Elizabeth was born the daughter of Gordon and Josephine (Sherrard) Swanson on April 12, 1942, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She grew up in Detroit with her family and graduated from Cass Tech High School, class of 1960. Elizabeth met Leonard Martin Freedman at Cass Tech and they married on July 18, 1964. Elizabeth and Lennie raised three daughters in Sterling Heights and Shelby Township, Michigan until Lennie’s passing in 1993. Elizabeth trained in medical transcription at Carnegie Institute and then built and managed her medical transcription business, Certified Medical Transcription, over the next 45 years.
Elizabeth and Lennie enjoyed time with their daughters both in their pool at their home in Shelby Township as well as at their cottage and boating on the Tittabawassee River. Elizabeth was remarried to Charles Immo on August 15, 1997, in Shelby Township, Michigan where they had a beautiful home on a lake that they enjoyed together for 25 years. They spent lots of family time there with their children and grandchildren that she adored.
Elizabeth loved her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. She was fashionable, stylish, and always dressed in her signature color purple. Elizabeth was a strong, hardworking, independent business owner who encouraged others to be strong and succeed. Elizabeth loved flowers and plants as well as art and spent lots of time enjoying her gardens and collecting art and attending art shows.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Charles Immo; children Kim Luksch (Ed), Tami Johanson (Todd), and Melissa Barthel (Scott); grandchildren Alex Luksch (Audrey), Shane Luksch, Breanna Johanson-Giglio (Angelo), Blake Johanson, Austin and Ashley Barthel, and Phyllicia and Nick Immo.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday August 11, 2025, from 6:00pm until 9:00pm with a memorial service at 8:00pm at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive in downtown Rochester, Michigan.
