She was born on January 7, 1943, to her parents, Casmir and Mary Lubiszewski in Hamtramck, MI. From an early age, Frances developed a deep love of reading—a passion that shaped the course of her life. She turned that love into a remarkable career, dedicating six decades as a circulation clerk in libraries across the country. Her work brought her to many respected institutions, including the Detroit Public Library(where she worked for many years with her mother and her sister), University of Michigan Library, Hennepin County Library in Minnesota, Wilbraham Public Library in Massachusetts, and the Clinton-Macomb Public Library. Through her work, she touched countless lives, helping others discover the joy of books.
On June 20, 1964—the hottest day of the year—Frances married the love of her life, Walter Piwonski. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and adventure. They were blessed with three daughters, Nancy, the late Karen, and Cynthia. Fran was dedicated to encouraging Walt's career and kept their daughters supported and loved in their moves across the country.
Frances found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially in her role as a devoted grandmother and later, great-grandmother. She and Walter shared a love of travel, journeying across the globe to visit their daughter Nancy and her family in Africa, Taiwan, and Japan, and creating cherished memories together on cruises.
