January 10, 1948- May 13, 2021
A life too short, but expertly lived. G. Charles Monte, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all, left this world for another on May 13, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of love.
The world’s best story teller, business man, home chef, history buff, activity director, scary driver, coffee connoisseur, and adventurer. Charles was many things to many people.
Charles loved people, and people love him. Charles made a point to talk to everyone - his family, friends, mailman, even the person behind him in the grocery store checkout. Fueled by his genuine interest in people, he made those around him feel special and the days of those he encountered brighter.
Born January 10, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, Charles grew up around the textile and apparel industry, and later built a successful clothing company of his own with his wife of 47 years, Patricia.
Possibly his greatest gift to those he loved, was Charles’ fierce loyalty. As a teenager, Charles provided for his grandmother, parents, and sister. Later his wife and children. He always put the needs of others ahead of his own, and always with his signature good humor. Charles’ many sacrifices laid the groundwork for generations of Montes to dream big and accomplish their goals. His daughters, Caroline and Judith, his grandsons, Monte, Oliver, James, Knox, and Benji, Charles’ sister and brother-in-law Teresa and Greg, and nieces and nephews will be forever grateful for his life of service.
His final words before transitioning peacefully to heaven were words of love, and a reminder that “we’ll all be together again.” Until that day, we will keep alive the legacy of love that Charles has left behind.
Please join the family for a memorial mass at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Rochester, MI, at 10am (viewing begins at 9:30am) on Saturday, May 29th, followed by an outdoor celebration to honor the amazing life of G. Charles Monte.
