To the love of my life, I will honor your memory and name until we meet again.
My dearest husband understood that it was not religion or what service he did
for Christ that would secure his eternal life with Jesus forever. Instead, he fully understood
that it was what Jesus Christ paid for on an old rugged cross  that would give him personal
 forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation. With little to no words, George brilliantly, humbly, and graciously displayed the fruits of the Spirit that are recorded in Galatians Chapter 5. George was able to command the attention of many in a noisy world with his silence. His actions of love towards many changed the course of their journey and pointed them to Christ Jesus. He wanted the light to shine in him,
not on him. My beloved George was God's humble servant, my hero, and man among men.
I love you sweetheart!

Part 2, continued...
I remember the day you pushed me on my bike without training wheels for the first time and let go.  I didn’t even realize that you let go – a major step for the both of us, like a bird tossing its young fledgling out of the nest for the first time.

So many, many memories.  I could go on forever.  Those memories will stay with me forever.  You will be with me forever, because you are truly a part of me – the best part. I may not have had children of my own to pass on the ‘Stanulis’ blood line, but I hope that through my actions and my words, I am passing down your cherished qualities to other children in my life, and they too will pass on your special character and qualities to future generations.

There were always more feelings than words between us. I knew, and you knew, without saying a word, that the absolute, unconditional love and respect was always there.

I love you dad, “more than you will ever know”; and, I will “keep up the good work”!

Dad,
Wow…what a ride it’s been for you!  So many ups and downs throughout your life. You had such a wonderful life with Ramona.  I had such a wonderful life with you.  You’re solid up-bringing, strong faith, and family life in Scranton shaped the great man you are. You were certainly “one in million”. You were, and still are such an inspiration to everyone that met you.  You always thought first about others, and you never, never, complained – even though there were times when you could have.  Even when you were in pain and needed open heart surgery, you said you were going to the dentist.  And, when you fell out of a tree and broke your neck, you wanted to walk home without anyone helping you.

You are the personification of Integrity.

I never heard you say a foul/four letter word in my entire life.  The best parts of my character came directly from you.  I wish I could have been more like you.  I owe the good traits I have to you. Maybe not my musical skills :) – but you still inspired me to keep practicing the piano.  I remember you saying that when it’s the hardest to apply yourself, is when the practicing has the most benefit. Fifty years later, I still remember that.  You used to say, “There’s only one way to do something – and that’s the right way!”  I was always looking for the shortcut (little secret…I still do).  But, you developed my strong work ethic, and I still apply that approach.  I may look for the most efficient way to do something, but it’s always the “right way”.

The only thing I could say that was lacking, was your ability to make pancakes! When mom wasn’t feeling well and you took over cooking breakfast, Georgie and I wish we could hide from you.  Although, in later years you did improve. At least you taught me to make fried baloney over an open flame on the stove- yummy!

My Father-In-Law, humble in all his ways, was quick to offer loving acts of kindness to his two favorite people in the world- his wife and son. Though he was more of a doer than a talker, George would say to Paul, "You are the best son a father could ever ask for." About Ramona, George would say, "She is everything (to me)..." 

George enjoyed tending to his garden, most especially, the two beautiful rose bushes transplanted from his precious sister, Isabelle. Anywhere he was, if he saw something not right, he would try to fix it, or make it better. Once we found him on his hands and knees picking up leaves that had fallen into cracks on the deck. George would serve gladly at his church, St. John Fisher in Auburn Hills, driving folks to their appointments or grocery shopping. He even helped pay for their bill if they were short some cash. He served quietly, he served gladly. 

A favorite memory was when we went to Maine and stayed at a quaint inn. A warm, roaring fire, his favorite wine, his favorite girl in his arms, and the sound of Paul on piano playing a warm melody, would bring tears to his eyes, tears of joy and gratitude, as he thanked God for giving him so many blessings.  

For it is in the snapshot of magical moments that we remember those who will always be special in our hearts. 

A toast to you, dear dad, grandpa George, great grandpa, loving husband, faithful servant of God. 

We love you and know the peace that surpasses all  understanding is yours in Christ Jesus!

So sorry to hear about George passing.  He was a kind sweet man.  He treated everyone good.

Dad was the personification of Integrity.  I am grateful for the many wonderful traits he passed on to me.  (More to come...)
