

GEORGE JOHN STANULIS, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2018. George was born on May 13, 1928, in Scranton, PA, son of John and Mary (Patsky) Stanulis. George is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ramona; son Paul (Gwendolyn; grandchildren Sarah & Anthony; great grandchild Ezra; nieces and nephews Jean & Rich Fuhr, Ed & Char Stanulis, Jimmy & Jane Stanulis, Robert Stanulis, and Jerry & Shirley Stanulis. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, George, Jr., and 7 brothers and sisters. George graduated from Scranton High School and was an altar boy at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Scranton. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. George was a longtime Supervisor and Buyer for the Foodtown chain of grocery stores, and was very proud to do something he loved. He was a member of several bowling leagues and had earned his 300 Bowler ring. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and the Pontiac Missionary Baptist Church, and served as a driver for the St. Andrew’s parishioners. The most important thing to George was that he trusted in his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ for his Salvation. He loved God, his wife and his family unconditionally and was an incredible family man. George’s favorite bible verse was Romans 8:28 – “ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”. A committal service with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018, 12:30 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. A Celebration of George’s life will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, 2 p.m. at the Pontiac Missionary Baptist Church 1281 Giddings Road, Pontiac. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pontiac Missionary Baptist Church, or the American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
