Jack was born the son of Elvin and Helen (Diehl) Kettler on April 5, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan. He was also the adopted son of Doris (Storrs) Kettler. Jack attended Cass Tech High School before joining the Navy, serving during the Korean War. He married Georgetta on May 11, 1957, at the United Methodist Church in Detroit. Jack and Georgetta raised their family in Oak Park and later Bloomfield Hills. Jack had a career in finance at the headquarters for General Motors, retiring after 33 years. Jack was a proud Mason and member of the VFW.
Jack loved everything history including books, documentaries/shows, and sharing his vast knowledge with others. In earlier years he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada with Georgetta. Jack also loved watching Formula One and rarely missed a race.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Georgetta Kettler; children Carol (Ken) Barnett and Kurt (Jill) Kettler; granddaughter Audrey Kettler; brother Dain (Donna) Scarff; nieces Tara, Heidi, Daina; and nephew Brett. Nothing was more important to him than family.
