James “Jay” Kellie Fritts, 92, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Kukuk) Fritts for over 70 years; loving father of Barbara (Timothy) Fritts Trammel, Helen (Richard) Fritts Lewis, and Russell (Danielle) Fritts; caring grandfather of Marcus (Catherine) Trammel, Kristina (Peter) Plociniak, Harlie and Brooke Bostelman; great-grandfather of Natalie, Addison, Jax, and Tyler Trammel, and Sarah and Samantha Plociniak; brother of Dorcy (Margaret) Fritts; and brother-in-law of Joan McCarthy. Jay was predeceased by his parents Albert and Mamie (Luallen) Fritts; sister Ruby Fritts, and great-grandson Samuel Plociniak. Jay was born in Coal Creek, Tennessee on June 20, 1927. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Kukuk on April 30, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Auburn Heights, Michigan. Jay and Betty raised their family in Rochester. Jay worked at General Motors Pontiac Fisher Body, starting in 1947 and retiring in 1983. He was a member of UAW Local 596. Jay loved building anything, wood working, traveling, and collecting many unique items. Jay’s family will welcome all to a visitation on Tuesday November 19, 2019 from 1pm until the time of funeral service at 4pm at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Premier Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at Pixley funeral home.
