James A Gordon, 76, of Ortonville, Michigan passed away December 13, 2022 surrounded by love and family. He was born in Petrolia, Canada on April 14, 1946 to Claire and Harriet Gordon, one of seven children. He graduated from Troy High School in 1964. He met the love of his life, Connie Morgan, and they were married on January 30, 1965. Jim and Connie were nearly inseparable for the next 58 years and were very proud of their three children.
Jim worked in Tool and Die for Punch Craft, Triple Tool, and then Molex. But he truly enjoyed every minute of his retirement and was sure to let everyone know that every day was the weekend. Even in retirement, 3:30 was quitting time. Time to put his feet up and watch some YouTube. He was an all-around family man. There were few things he enjoyed more than family parties where his home was filled with his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren listened well when he would say “Don’t tell Grandma…” followed by something really exciting, and maybe a little dangerous. He was the go-to guy for his family and friends. He was the one everyone called when they needed help or a question answered. He had a great wealth of knowledge. There was nothing he couldn’t do. He was more than happy to share his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He did accept beer as the method of payment.
He was a member of Skymasters RC Club of Michigan for many years. He loved building, flying, and crashing his airplanes. He spent a great deal of time at Orion Oaks Dog Park in Orion Township where many beautiful friendships were created. He loved his Bernese Mountain dogs and every other dog that visited the park, many of which he knew by name. According to Jim, there were only good dogs, no bad dogs.
He is survived by his loving wife Connie Gordon. Children: Sandra Valken (Thomas Kauffmann), Christine Dombrowski (Richard), and James Gordon II (Amy). Grandchildren: Matthew Valken (Alicia) and Michelle Krueger (Casey), Jacob and Megan Dombrowski, Rachel, Dallas, and Derek Gordon. Siblings: Helen Shaver (Richard), Mary Griswold (Randy), Elizabeth Kohl (David), Kathryn Komaromy (Joseph). Sisters-in-law: Connie Fox Gordon & Debbie Rey. Predeceased by his parents Claire and Harriet Gordon, brothers Thomas and William Gordon, son-in-law Richard Valken.
Jim will be forever loved and missed by those who knew him. They will be sure to follow his example of kindness and strength.
A memorial visitation will be held at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm with a eulogy and time of sharing beginning at 4:00 pm. There will be a memorial luncheon to immediately follow.
