Jill B. Johnston, age 65, of Rochester, passed away April 14, 2016. Jill was born in Pontiac, MI on May 24, 1950 and grew up in Keego Harbor, MI. She graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and married James Johnston on October 6, 1979. Jill served in many capacities as a teacher, educator and guide including ESL education and volunteer work at local shelters and support homes. She enjoyed reading mysteries, following and debating world events and was passionate about social justice. She appreciated art and music, especially attending the symphony. She was never short for a joke – usually of the dry and witty variety. And most of all she cherished time with family, and instilled the most important value of being a good & kind person in her own family by her own example. Wife of James A. Johnston; mother of Elizabeth (Kristen) Johnston-Cook and Allison (Michael) Ray; grandmother of Liam and Quinn; daughter of the late Bill and Maribel Logie; sister of Janice, Jackie and John. We will miss her greatly.
