He was born on September 7, 1948 to father John Teetsel and mother Vera Teetsel in Bergen County, New Jersey. John graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with an accounting degree.
John had a long career in the automotive industry working most recently with Volkswagen of America for 23 years as a financial analyst. He moved throughout the country for his career from New Jersey, New York to Illinois and settling in Michigan around 1985 to support his family. For many years he had a passion for biking Stoney Creek Park, the Paint Creek Trail and loved watching the many bike races such as the Tour de France throughout the year.
John is most known though, in our family because of his amazing Grandpa skills. John loved being a Grandpa. He was so excited to be a grandpa that he made it to the hospital 5 minutes before his daughter who was the one in labor. He was most popularly called ‘Beba’ but was often fondly referred to as ‘Grandpa Crocodile’ and of course ‘Grandpa’. I bet you can imagine him running around the house flapping his hands together after his little grand kids like a crocodile. He was a silly Grandpa, he loved joking with them and most of the time had them in fits and giggles over games of Spank-A-Roo to which the children got all riled up and ran around the house screaming and yelling. Yes, he was a troublemaker.
He is survived by his sister Sharon (Dave) Galusha and his three children Derek (Vickie) Teetsel, Amy (Brian) Kremkow and Sara (Mark) Kacin and of course his nine beautiful grandchildren Ella (Logan) Kremkow, Katelyn Teetsel, Madelyn Kremkow, Anna Kacin, Alivia Teetsel, Shelby Kremkow, Benjamin Kacin, Emily Kacin and Samantha Kacin.
Funeral arrangements will be held on December 8, 2023 with visitation from 10-12pm, and a service immediately following at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester, Michigan.
