

On November 19th at Crittenton Hospital, Judie passed gracefully into the loving arms of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. She was 75 years old and had battled cancer for the last four-and-a-half years.
Judie is survived by her grandchildren, Daniel, Samantha, Isabel, Olivia, and Adele; her children, Tracy Troy and John Long; her daughter-in-law, Meg Long, and her sons-in-law, Ken Lockhart and Joe Troy; her niece Letitia and her nephew Sam; and numerous cousins. Judie was predeceased by her daughter, Ann Long-Lockhart, her grand-daughter, Madeleine, and her former husband, John.
Born Judith Ann Kuehl, Judie grew up in Manistee, Michigan. She lived in Rochester for nearly 50 years.
For 26 years, Judie had a vibrant career at Adams High School in Rochester Hills. She was recognized by the Board of Education for creating the child development program that included the preschool run at the high school. She taught a wide range of courses, including Child Development, Biology, Practical Law, Clothing, Foods, and Interior Design. She created Family Living, Practical Living, and Economic Survival, to help children learn how to become responsible young adults. For eleven years, Judie also served as the coach of the Cheerleading squad.
Judie started her undergraduate education at Michigan State University. After raising a family, she earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Family Life Education from Wayne State University.
Judie was a long-standing member of the Heart of the Hills Christian Church. She served on the Board of Trustees, coordinated church dinners, and ran the Media Center. Many in the congregation called her “Mom,” and she will be sorely missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to , PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME, 322 West University Drive, in downtown Rochester. Visiting hours are from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25th. A Funeral Service will be held at Heart of the Hills Christian Church, 5085 Orion Road, Rochester, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26th.
