In the short time I worked for Larry, I quickly came to admire his outstanding leadership and respect him as a man of great honor and integrity.  I will always be grateful for his words of encouragement and that warm smile.  The world needs more like him.

My best childhood memories were with all of you and Larry. I remember so much kindness and generosity, and all the good times we had with your family. The only time I really cried when I had to leave somewhere was when we had to say goodbye to all of you at the end of our visits. I remember a warm welcoming hug from Donna, Jill and Melinda dressing up, Tony hiding in the sofa bed and scaring us, and Tim leading us through a round of karaoke... and Larry always having a big smile on his face because he was so happy we were having so much fun and enjoying our special time together. I have you all and Larry in my heart.  With love and prayers...

We don't know where to start!
Larry and I go back many many years when we were both in high school.  One thing not stated in any of the posts is what an outstanding athlete Larry was.  He was an excellent baseball player with great coordination.
I remember Larry's first car, a Corvair convertible, with the fan belt constantly breaking.
I remember Linda and I living in the same apartment complex with Larry and Donna after we were married.  What great fun we had.....playing "Nurtz" till dawn's early light on weekends....going on vacation together in Florida, where Donna was "apprehended just in time to convince her to go straight!"  (I remember the beautiful mural Larry painted on our dining room wall in our apartment from a picture I had taken in the Bahamas. He was very artistic!-Linda) So many wonderful memories.  Those were the days!!!
Larry and I were drafted into the Army on the same day in April 1968.  (Donna & I shared an apartment while "our guys" were off to boot camp and enjoyed many late nights with "Johnny Carson"-Linda) Larry and Donna went on to Germany while Linda and I went to Tacoma, Washington.  Larry and Donna came home with Tony while we came home with Lee.  After the Army, Larry went into the music business with no experience and rose to be Senior Vice President of Sony Music in NY.  I have always been very proud of Larry's accomplishments.  
I remember visiting them in Chicago and Detroit when our kids were young and we were both starting out, and the dreams we had for our families.
BUT MOST OF ALL, I remember his friendship, his laughter, his sincerity and the tremendous love he had for his family.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Donna, Tony, Tim and Melinda.  What a loving, thoughtful, close and caring family.
It's impossible to believe he is gone -- because he'll never be gone - his spirit will continue on in each and everyone of us who knew him.  God Bless.

You can judge the measure of a man by the way he took care of his family. And, Larry, certainly cherished his.

While the distance and logistics of living so far apart over the past 40 years prevented us from knowing Larry on a more personal level, I know he was loved and greatly respected by family and by everyone whose life he touched.  He will live forever in the memories of all that you have shared.

LARRY HICKS,  A GREAT MAN AND VALUED FRIEND FOR ALMOST FIFTY YEARS.  THINKING BACK OVER THOSE YEARS I REMEMBER AND AM EMOTIONALLY TOUCHED BY HOW MUCH FUN WE HAD TOGETHER.  MOST REMARKABLE WAS HIS WONDERFUL SENSE OF HUMOR ABOUT HIMSELF AND HOW HE NEVER HESITATED TO TORMENT AND TWEAK ME.  HIS LAUGHTER WAS CONTAGIOUS.  WE ENJOYED MANY OF THE SAME THINGS LIKE FAMILY AND STUPID MOVIES, "GHOSTBUSTERS."   WITH EVERYONE WHO KNEW HIM I CELEBRATE HIS LIFE AND FRIENDSHIP.  LARRY, YOU ARE LOVED AND REMEMBERED.

My family and I have such fond memories of Larry and spending summers as we grew up visiting him, Donna, Tony, Tim and Melinda.  It was always such a treat visiting Michigan and the Hicks' family - my sisters and I would cry when we'd have to leave because we'd have so much fun being together with them!  We loved Larry so much and will always cherish the memories of the fun times we all had those summers and the warm welcome the family always extended us. I also still vividly remember the last time I saw him in New York for dinner with Donna a few years back. Different place but same Larry and Donna. :) I love you all so much and am thinking of you and wishing I could see you.

The tears come so easily. Larry had a such that of my family. There has not been a time over my last 37 years that when his name was mentioned we had happy thoughts and cherished memories. To know Larry is to love him and admire all that he accomplished with hard work and grace. He was as humble a the day long which just made him all that more remarkable. Larry left the world a better place and that is no more clear in his most lovely wife, Donna and his 3 fantastic children, Tony, Tim and Melinda. The Hicks' have always been happy loving supporters in our lives. You are missed, Larry. There is no one like you. My only solace is that you are no longer suffering and your family no longer has to watch. I wish you peace, comfort and strength. I love you all.

Larry was a wonderful and thoughtful person, always a smile and a hello no matter who you were.  Certainly a mentor to many my memories of him will always be in my heart. He will certainly be missed by all of us who worked along side him.

Larry was a great friend and partner during our tenure togather at Sony Music.We spent a great deal of time togather, on the road and in the office, and it was always apparent in our conversations that Larry put his family above all else in his priorities and he was very proud of them. He was also proud of his time at the Handleman Co. and the true friends he made there....and through those later years with Sony we all managed to have a really grand time of it all and do some spectaculer business at the same time. Larry was a great guy and i will miss him deeply.             Donna,,,,,Gods Blessings and Peace to you and your family. You are in our prayers.

Larry was a gentleman through and through.  His kindness and thoughtfulness during the time I worked for him in New York will always be remembered.  My sincere condolences to Donna and the Hicks family.

I'm proud to have called Larry a mentor, to this day I put in practice the lessons I learned from him and from time to time find myself quoting him. I thank him for his contribution to my life and send my prayers to his family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Larry when I went to work for the Handleman Company after it acquired Lieberman Enterprises. Larry loved the music and entertainment industry, as do most of us who have made it the foundation of our careers. Larry was a true professional and a gentleman and he will be missed. AND MOST IMPORT EN  DOING THE RIGHT THING  OUR TEAM WAS DOING JUST THAT.  THE TEAM MOSLEY STAYED IN TOUCH WE HAVE GOLFED TOGETHER AND FISHED TOGETHER YOUR FAVORITE . WE MISSED YOU THIS YEAR BUT TALKED ABOUT YOU ANYWAY.WE ALL WILL PRAY FOR YOUR LOVE ONES LEFT BEHIND THAT THEY KEEP IN TOUCH WITH EACH OTHER THAT IS FAMILY. He was a mentor to me for many years and was responsible for giving me my biggest break by promoting me to branch manager in 1988.
