James Leonard “Len” Sanders, age 84, of Shelby Township, Michigan passed away on October 14, 2019. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 4, 1934. Len graduated from Hazel Park High School and received his Associates Degree from Macomb Community College. He was married to Fran Sanders on April 25, 1952. Len was a general foreman for Ford Motor Company and always had a passion for his family, Harsens Island, and antique collecting. At the time of his passing, Len was survived by his wife Frances Sanders; and he is survived by his brother, Robert (Virginia) Sanders.
Frances Clarine Sanders, age 84, of Shelby Township, Michigan passed away on October 15, 2019. She was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on December 11, 1934. Frances graduated from Royal Oak High School. She went on to marry Len Sanders on April 25, 1952. Frances spent her life being a homemaker and always having a passion for her family, cats, and knitting. She is survived by her siblings, John (Patti) Farough and Mary (Ed) Schendel.
Both Len and Fran are survived by their children, James Leonard (Loretta) Sanders Jr., Julie Ann (Jerry) Pelton, and John Tilson (Sheila) Sanders; and their grandchildren, James Leonard Sanders III, Michael David Pelton, Kathryn Nicole Pelton, and Mark David Sanders. They were preceded in death by their son, David Edgar Sanders, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 43.
Visitation for Len and Fran will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 1-8 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan. Len and Fran’s Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1 PM, with gathering beginning at 12 Noon until the time of service, at Pixley Funeral Home.
