

On July 23, 2025 Leo Rich, loving husband, father, grandfather and great -grandfather, passed away at the age of 94.
He is survived by his children, Martin (Sue) Rich, Julie (Rich)Sebest, Karen Rich, Paul (Donna) Rich and Meg (Touhey) Rich, his grandchildren, Gregory(Jennifer), Patrick, Kayla(Hank), Andrea, Jason, Holly, Luke and Dakota, and his great-grandchildren Daniel, Aubrey & Bennett.
Leo was born December 24, 1930 in Mt. Clemens, MI to George and Hilda (Oberliesen) Rich. He had loving siblings - Kate, Molly, Sylvester, Charles & Tom.
On February 5, 1955 Leo and Dorothy were married in Utica, MI. They had met on a northern Michigan ski trip while they were both working for General Motors. They raised their four children in Shelby Township MI. Upon retirement, Leo and Dorothy moved to Sugar Island, Sault Ste. Marie, MI where they made happy memories together for 35 years. They made many friends and volunteered their time throughout the community.
Leo’s favorite hobbys were wood-working projects and fixing watches & clocks. He accomplished his life goal of finishing the inside of his home - electrical, plumbing, trim work, drywall, flooring.
Leo’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He extended his love to all he met and to those who needed his help. Leo enjoyed giving of his time to the Lions Club and Sugar Island Fire Department.
Leo and Dorothy shared a strong Catholic faith, in which they raised their four children. They were both devoted members of Sacred Heart Church on Sugar Island.
Leo is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy, sisters, Kate and Molly, brothers, Sylvester and Charles, and his grandsons, Daniel Rich and Andrew Sebest.
A celebration of Leo’s life is planned for August 11th at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rochester, MI at 11:00 am mass, followed by Guardian Angel Cemetery for Military Honors. Afterwards a luncheon at Rochester Mills Brewery at 1-130pm. Please come and share memories of Leo. RSVP to Julie or Karen by August 6th.
