Lillian Stephanie Foxa (née Jasinski) of Rochester Hills, Clinton Township and formerly Harper Woods, Michigan passed away on December 31, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on August 8, 1927 as the baby of her family. Lillian was a graduate of St. Florian and Hamtramck High School, class of 1945. She married her husband Joseph A. Foxa on June 25, 1949 with a traditional morning ceremony at St. Florian Church followed by a full day and evening celebration. Lillian was employed at Prudential Insurance Company and in later years by the United States Department of Commerce as a field representative for the Census Bureau for twenty years.
She enjoyed spending time with her husband, and able to raise her children with love, pursue her interests with zest with Harper Woods, Clinton and finally Troy Garden Clubs, Red Hat group the Razzle Dazzles, Bible Study, Gilda's Club, humanities group and Alter Society at St. Peter churches in Harper Woods and later in Mt. Clemens. Lillian also served on the school board for Notre Dame High school, committee member for the 50th Anniversary of Hamtramck High School and other large events.
Additionally she loved theatre, both performing with several productions from high school into her early senior years and later spending 2 decades as an usher at the Fisher Theatre where she made more lasting friends. Lillian also found time to energize with her Tea Potter’s Club, making lasting friends everywhere she went. Lillian and the family loved to travel throughout the U.S. and abroad and spending time when possible at their summer home at Lakewood Shores in Oscoda.
She was an excellent cook, taking classes to learn healthy and hearty meals to share with family and friends. Lillian was known to set a beautiful table, especially focusing on themes and holidays. She greatly enjoyed gardening for herself and countless others, socializing, crafts, wreath making and caring for her family and friends. She was a vibrant and robust lady, full of charm and loved any kind of party. So it was fitting that her mind, body and spirit came together on New Year’s Eve to be lifted up to heaven and meet the Lord whom she loved greatly and anticipated.
She is greatly missed by her daughter Catherine Kroll (Byron Dees-deceased) and predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Foxa of 54 years and her son Joseph M. Foxa (Cynthia). Also survived by her grandchildren Lauren W. Dunlap, Nicole D. Bruggeman, Robert “Alex” Kroll, Lindsay R. Bloom and Gabrielle E. Foxa.
