Lois Ann King-Church, 76, of Rochester, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in the early hours of Thursday, April 23, 2020. Lois is survived by her two daughters, Amy King of Salt Lake City, UT, and Laura (James) Skubal of Rhinelander, WI, also, step-children Victor (Terri) Church of Rochester, MI, Lynn Church-Coons of Milford, MI and Tonya Church-Smith of White Lake, MI, one sister, Beverly (Bob) Dorsey of Wooster, OH, nieces Tammy (Rod) Koepke of Ramona, CA, Lisa (Ken) Mills of Palm Springs, CA, and their children, as well as grand-dogs Little Bear, and Hans 'n Franz.
Lois was born May 20, 1943 in South Webster, OH to John and Wilma (Weisenberger) Taylor. Lois attended Wooster High School and graduated from Midwestern Baptist School, Pontiac, MI. She married Alex A. King in April, 1963. After Alex's passing, she married Lloyd A. Church in May, 1993. Lois held several jobs including Telephone Operator and "Springer" at a seat belt factory, then after marriage, her main job was that of Wife, Mother, and Homemaker. Lois worked at the Rochester Hills Public Library for 34 years, and was a much beloved member of their staff. Lois adored working at the Library, and still worked there part-time up until her death. Lois also worked at Lytle Pharmacy in downtown Rochester for many years, which she also loved.
Lois was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rochester, and a member of their hand bell choir for over 30 years, just "retiring" from playing a few years ago. She also enjoyed being a member of the Rochester OPC. Lois had a passion for cooking and baking, and was most often found in the kitchen; she loved baking for others. When you stopped by Lois' house, the cookie jar was never empty! She also enjoyed sewing, reading, music, and spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. Lois had a deep abiding faith in God, and tried to always have a bright outlook, no matter what was happening. She loved her family and friends, and would do most anything for anyone, including dog-sitting!
Due to the current pandemic a private family burial will take place Saturday, May 2 at Mount Avon Cemetery, Rochester. Arrangements are being handled by Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester. A Memorial Service/Celebration of Lois' Life is being planned for later in the summer, or whenever it is safe to gather again, date and time will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either to ABBA Fund » Blog Archive » For the Orphan Network - Adoption Assistance for Christian Families or The Rochester Hills Public Library www.rhpl.org in Lois' memory.
