Beloved husband of Mary Bragg (nee Huemiller) ; dear father of Ann ( Andy Garcia) Bragg and Arthur ( Beth Kautzman) Bragg; caring grandfather of Eleanor Bragg; and brother of Barbara Jean Galford.
Louis was born the son of John and Elsie (Ransinger) Bragg in Weston, West Virginia on August 5, 1931. He graduated from Widen High School and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from West Virginia University. Louis earned his PhD in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin. He married Mary Huemiller on June 10th, 1972 in Rochester Michigan.
Louis was employed as a member of the mathematics faculty at Duke University and West Virginia University and then as a professor of mathematics at Case Institute of Technology followed by Oakland University.
Louis served as an elder and former treasurer for University Presbyterian Church in Rochester Hills.
Louis’s family will welcome all to a visitation on Sunday May 13th, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home located at 322 W. University Drive in downtown Rochester. Instate at 10:30 until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at University Presbyterian Church located at 1385 S. Adams Rd in Rochester Hills. Interment will be at Mount Avon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Louis R. and Mary L. Bragg Endowed Scholarship in Mathematics at Oakland University or to University Presbyterian Church in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
