MARGARET HARRIET DeGROOTE, age 87, of Rochester Hills, passed away January 27, 2019. Margaret was born on February 5, 1931 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Charles and Irene Loso. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacques in 1997. Margaret is survived by her sons Daniel (Susan), Michael (Jill), Glenn (Sirilux), and Gregory (Valerie); grandchildren Lindsey, Erin, Steven, Jonathan, Nathanial, Maxwell and Sean; great grandchildren Jack, Henry and Fox. Also survived by her sister Barbara Northway. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Rochester. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1952 where she was affiliated with Pi Kappa Sigma sorority and elected to the National Teachers Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi. Margaret then taught in the Berkley School District before she was married. She has been affiliated with On the Aisle, Friends of the Library, and the OPC Computer Club. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester. Rev. Penny Lowes officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Avon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
