Marjorie May Meissner, of Rochester Hills passed away peacefully Sunday February 7, 2021 with family by her side at the age of 78. She was born in Avon Township on April 8, 1942, daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel Kleino. Marjorie attended St. John Lutheran School. She first met a handsome safety patrol boy named Gary on her way home from school in 5th grade. Marjorie and Gary began dating her sophomore year in high school. She graduated from Rochester High School, class of 1960 and married her beloved husband Gary Meissner on July 22, 1961. She was a licensed cosmetologist graduating from Michigan College of Beauty and Cosmetology in Pontiac.
Marjorie loved her husband and family deeply. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities and sporting events. Marjorie also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and singing for several decades in the choir at St. John Lutheran Church. Later in life, she loved watching the deer and other wildlife in their backyard and could always see God's love in his creation.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband Gary and children Thomas (Tracy) Meissner and Michael (Debbie) Meissner. Foster son David (Pam) Patton. Cherished grandmother of Callie Cray (Michael), Austin Meissner (Gabi Urbaniak), Jacob Meissner (Samantha Moss), Abbey Meissner (Roman Reiner), Michael Patton and Sara Patton. Beloved sister of George Kleino (Diane), eight nieces and nephews and dear friends who became family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Bill and sister-in-law Janet.
Marjorie will lie in state on Monday February 15, 2021 at 10:30am until the time of funeral service at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester, Michigan. Interment will follow at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church and School Foundation or Residential Hospice Foundation. Envelopes are available at the church and funeral home. The family wishes to thank the nurses, health care aides, social workers, and the entire staff of Residential Hospice for the love and care they provided Marjorie.
