We have known the Chaseys since moving into the neighborhood 30 years ago. Nancy was always our “block captain.” She kept a watch over us and kept us abreast of what was going on. I felt particularly blessed to have the Chasey’s help when Steve underwent two major surgeries. Every time I had to be away, Nancy would notify other neighbors to keep an eye out for Steve and our house until I returned.

Nancy was, as is Les, very resourceful and shared with us many fun things. While she was still active in her choir, we had the pleasure of being invited to her concerts. I also consulted her on a number of topics – care of potted plants, insurance, ... and more. She also shared with me memories of her past visits to Germany as I was also making regular business trips there at that time. She even told us of some of her genealogy findings. Her Christmas newsletters were always very enjoyable to read and motivated me to keep up with her creativity in doing ours. I did not know about her being an accomplished knitter but am not at all surprised. She was such a talented lady. I still remember the beautiful Christening dress she sewed for one of her newly arrived grandchildren.

The Chasey grandchildren’s visits were always fun to watch. Les would have all kinds of entertaining gadgets for them. If they were not shrieking in joy wading in the pool, they would bicycle with their grandparents to the dairy shop around the corner. Watching them have the time of their life, Steve and I often wondered, and hoped, that someday they would look back and realize how good they had it.

Since we came to this neighborhood, we have gone through three dogs and now have our fourth. I thought some things would never change, like that charming windmill Les built. I thought Nancy would always be there tending their lovely garden every time I walked by with my dog. We will miss you, Nancy!

Requiescat in pace. In paradisum deducant te angeli.

Nancy was my stepmom and grandma to my children for over 30 years. There is a sadness among all of us. Nancy never said an unkind word in the many years we knew her. A great woman at holding her tongue with this family😊. We all have many great memories to cherish forever.
Nancy and my dad were perfect pair.
We will miss her dearly!
