Nelda F Thompson

Nelda was born July 31, 1941 in Butler County, Missouri. She later graduated

from Avondale High School in Auburn Heights, MI as Valedictorian of her class.

She went on to marry her childhood sweetheart, Glen L. Thompson on

November 15, 1958. They had six beautiful children together.

Nelda was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker yet she still found time to

work part time in accounting and to help with registration for many years at

nearby Oakland University. She was a long time member of a bowling league, and

later became passionate about golf. She tried her hand at Porcelain and created

many beautiful pieces which became keepsakes for family and friends. Nelda

loved to create a warm and comfortable family home, often redecorating and

rearranging the furniture, but finding that perfect sofa for the family room always

eluded her. Her gardens were always evolving too, as she tried out new plantings

and landscaping features. She also loved her holidays and family gatherings and

generously shared her blessings with others. Nelda’s love of family filled her life

with great joy and meaning and were her reason for being. She felt truly blessed.

Nelda was a longtime fixture in her neighborhood, enjoying many close and

long term friendships with her neighbors. She also kept in touch and met with a

group of high school friends throughout her life. Later she fostered a bevy of

wildlife friends, regularly feeding her beloved hummingbirds and squirrels.

Nelda was predeceased by her mother Wanda (nee Pillow) and stepfather Archie

Farrell, her beloved husband Glen, her brother Freddie and nephew “Little

Freddie”.

She is survived by her children Glenn (Leslie), Dean (Annette), Richard (Linda),

Michael (Mikann), Joseph (Ellen), and Pamela; grandchildren Robert (Stephanie),

Rachel (Tyler), Samantha, Sabrina (Joel), Noah, Magen (Cody), Zachery (Cody),

Brittany (Durgham), Breianne (Ian); great grandchildren Robert Justin, Elizabeth,

Olivya, Luna, Juno, Abbas, Kadhim, Moussa and Adilynne; her brother Bruce

(Gail), her sister Shirley (Arturo), and other close relatives and friends.

Visitation for Nelda will be held on Thursday October 26, 2023 and Friday October

27, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester, Michigan.

Funeral service will be held Saturday October 28, 2023 at with instate time beginning at 11:00 AM and service starting at 12:00 PM at St. John Fisher Chapel in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Interment will be following the service at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

or the Salvation Army.
