

Penny May Ayotte of Clarkston, MI, formerly of Omer, MI passed away on November 25, 2025 at the age of 78. Born in Saginaw, MI to Chester and Thelma Whitten, she was the oldest of three children. Penny grew up in Rochester Hills where she met and married the love of her life, Robert G. Ayotte. They wed on November 30, 1963 in Rochester Hills before having two children.
Penny had many jobs throughout her lifetime and often gave back to the community and those less fortunate in the communities where she lived. One of the jobs she enjoyed was managing the kitchen at Johnny’s Restaurant for several years as she always enjoyed cooking. She then began driving a school bus for Rochester Schools before starting her own cake decorating business. She was well known for her amazing and elaborate cake designs that tasted as good as they looked. During this time, she also began working at H&R Block preparing tax returns for several years before branching out on her own preparing taxes in another business she started. She continued preparing taxes even after moving to Omer and did so until her retirement. She loved camping, going on cruises, cooking, spending time with friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Penny is survived by her son Robert G. Ayotte Jr. (Kelly); grandchildren, Jim Craven (Corina), Stephanie Brown, Jacob Ayotte, Alexa Ayotte and Robert K. Ayotte; and her sister Carol Helm. She is predeceased by her late husband Robert G. Ayotte, her daughter Annette Craven and her sister Clara Walker.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr. Rochester, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 11:30am and the memorial service will be held at 1:00pm. A luncheon will follow the service at the same location.
