

She is survived by her cousins, Peggy Roberts, Betty Liles, and their families.
Jean graduated from Ferndale High School, Central Michigan University, and United Theological Seminary. At age seventeen, she began a thirty-seven-year career with Michigan Bell, starting as a switchboard operator and retiring as a Switching Systems Manager.
In 1994, Jean answered a call to ministry in the United Methodist Church. She first served as a chaplain at the Oakland County Jail, followed by pastoral appointments in Lexington, Armada, Oxford, and Birmingham. After her second retirement, she continued to serve as an interim pastor at several churches in the Greater Detroit area.
Jean was deeply dedicated to service. She participated in many Michigan Conference and District Committees, served on the board of the Baldwin Center in Pontiac, was a Trustee of the Methodist Union, and was a trained Stephen Minister.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Road, Rochester, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry.
