Richard Edward Gillies

Richard Edward Gillies, age 68, of Rochester Hills, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 31st, 1955 to Helen and Wilford “Bill” Gillies. Richard grew up in Taylor, Michigan and attended Taylor John F. Kennedy High School. Following graduation, he attended electronic school where he studied and excelled in electrical engineering. He enjoyed dissembling stereos, computers, and bikes so that he could improve upon their design.

On October 30th, 1982, he married his beloved wife, Cindy Gillies. They were not just husband and wife; they were also the best of friends and dedicated travel companions, sharing life's journey hand-in-hand. In 1990, he co-founded Test Products Inc. where he merged his passion for engineering and cars. After many successful years, he retired in 2012. Rick was a proud member of the Christian faith, he attended church at St. Irenaeus Catholic church. Rick was known for his full-loving and generous heart, as well as his kind and gentle nature. He was passionate about life, family, and his hobbies. Rick was an audiophile who loved red Corvettes and was particularly proud of his DeLorean. By far, his greatest joy was his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Gillies; his daughter Corrine Nichols (Micah), Chris Gillies (Lilai), Ashley Gillies (Ameel Trabilsy II); grandchildren Katrina Nichols, Kayla Nichols, Lillie Mae Gillies, Lucas Gillies, Tobias Gillies, and Baby Gillies; sister-in-law Nancy Thorpe; and mother-in-law Alice Peck.

An instate for Richard will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at St Irenaeus Catholic Church, 771 Old Perch Rd, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am.
