

Richard was born in Detroit Michigan on March 6, 1943. Richard graduated from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School in 1961 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Detroit. He spent over 30 years working as a human resources supervisor for the city of Detroit. Richard was an avid traveler who loved to ride on airplanes and travel to faraway places. He spent 25 years with the travel group Nomads and proudly brought home a slide show to his family after every trip. He never liked to sit still and loved to scuba dive, ski, hike and explore new areas.
After retiring, Richard relocated to Ore Lake in Hamburg Township where he was active in the community including supporting election polling sites, working with the township Flood Mitigation Committee and Huron River annual cleanup days, volunteering at the local recycling center and supporting American Youth Hostels, Big Brothers. Even after moving out of the city, Richard always loved spending time in Detroit and spent many years working as an usher at the Fisher Theatre and Michigan Opera Theatre. In his spare time, he loved to swim laps in the community pool and spend time on the lake.
Richard was never married and had no children, he is survived by his nine nieces and nephews and good friends Randy and Jordon.
All are invited to a gathering to celebrate Richard’s life on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Brighton Community Center, located at 555 Brighton St. in Brighton Michigan.This gathering will be a time to come together, share cherished memories, and find comfort in each other's presence. There is no need to RSVP, please just stop by to celebrate Richard’s life and share a memory with friends, family, and loved ones. We look forward to seeing you there.
