Robert Earl Townsend

TOWNSEND, Robert Earl, age 88, of Myrtle Beach, SC., formerly of Battle Creek, Nashville, TN and Rochester Hills, MI, died February 21, 2012, at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, SC. Robert was born May 29, 1923, in Armada, MI to the late Harlan and Pearl Townsend. He was a past member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester and the First United Methodist Church in Gallatin, TN. He collected Lionel trains and was associated with the Train Collectors Association for 23 years. He was an avid county western music fan and built musical instruments. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Townsend, on February 21, 2003. Father of Darryl (Luise) Townsend and Deidre (Gary) Laser. Grandfather of Jason (Devonie) Townsend, Derek (Kady) Orvis, Dana (Chuck) Nguyen, James (Heidi) Laser and Krista Laser. Great-grandfather of Wilden and Brenna Nguyen. Brother of Mary Alice (Roy) Kinch and the late John Townsend. Visitation Saturday 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME, 322 W. University Drive in Rochester, MI 48307.
