Robert D. Tyrell

Robert was born on April 21, 1939, in Pontiac, the son of L.D. Tyrell and Elizabeth Brabant. He married the love of his life, Barbara Watson, on February 11, 1967.

Bob joined the Rochester Fire Department in 1961, where he spent nearly six decades serving the community, retiring at the rank of Assistant Chief. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his children, Brian (Kelly) Tyrell and Robert (Wendy Tyrell-Nicholson) Tyrell; grandchildren, Mike (Laura) Tyrell, Matt (Erin) Tyrell, Adam (Nicole) Tyrell, Lauren (Ryan Yankee) Tyrell, and Austin Tyrell; and great-grandchildren, Blake, Wyatt, Carter, Olive, Veda, and Cohen. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Tyrell, and brothers-in-law, Robert Watson and Larry Watson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Tyrell; his brother, Charles Tyrell; his brother-in-law, Richard Watson; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Hagen, Marsha Watson, June Watson, and Elaine Watson.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 17, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Mount Avon Cemetery in Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s honor may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
