Thomas R. England, 86, was born in Greenport, Long Island, N.Y. to Woolsy Hempstead and Elva McKeown Drake and later adopted by stepfather Edward S .England. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sydney; his siblings Lillian, Marion, and Elwood Hempstead (VT), Edward and Richard England and Elva Hislop (CT). Tom is survived by his son Thomas and daughter Linda (Dave); his grandsons Jon and Jim; as well as many nephews and nieces in the Bristol, CT area. Tom served in the USAF during the Korean War. He worked as a Technical Writer largely in the defense industry until eventually retiring from General Dynamics Corporation. He flew gliders, enjoyed outdoor activities and was highly devoted to his family. His remains are to be cremated and placed at rest eventually in his hometown of Bristol, CT. A service will take place at Independence Village, 701 Market St., Oxford, MI 48371 at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 15th, 2016.
