Wanda was a devoted mother to Rhonda George Lickman (Kevin), Ronald George Jr. (Anne Marie), and Russell George (Jill). She was incredibly proud of her children and the lives they built. She was also a loving grandmother to Christopher, Lauren, Veronica, Alex, and Zack, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is survived by her siblings, Mary Ann Mattiello, Anthony Mattiello, Lucia Mattiello Cutshaw, and Marco (Mark) Mattiello.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald George, Sr., the love of her life. Together they built a home filled with family traditions, laughter, and the comforting aroma of Wanda’s cooking.
Wanda was known by many for her extraordinary quilting talent. Her quilts were more than blankets -they were works of art stitched with patience, creativity, and love; each one telling a story and warming the homes of those fortunate enough to receive them. She was also an exceptional cook who delighted family and friends with meals that brought everyone together around the table.
Music was another great passion in Wanda’s life. She played the accordion and was a former choir singer at Guardian Angels Church in Clawson, Michigan. One of the highlights of her time in the choir was performing at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II, a moment she cherished for the rest of her life.
Wanda also shared her love of sewing with others through her work at Sew Together in Richmond, Michigan, where her talent and knowledge inspired many fellow quilters.
A memorial service celebrating Wanda’s life will be held in Calumet, Michigan, in the summer of 2026, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived.
Wanda’s love lives on in the quilts she stitched, the meals she shared, the songs she sang, and most of all, in the hearts of the family she loved so deeply. She will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
