

Martin "Big Marty" Bermudez, 79, loving husband, father, and grandfather, of Homosassa, FL., passed away on March 21, 2021 in Crystal River, FL. Marty was born on June 5, 1941 in Guayama, Puerto Rico to Cleofe and Santo (Vazquez) Bermudez and was married to Kathleen (McDonald) in Rochester, NY on May 16, 1970. Marty played minor league baseball from 1958-1960 as a pitcher for various Pittsburgh Pirate affiliate teams and had a long 28 year career with General Motors in Rochester, NY. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose #2013, Homosassa, FL. Marty was a loving husband to Kathleen, a respected and hardworking man, and a great father to his Marty and Jimmy. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees with his friends and family and was an avid golfer. He will be sadly missed by the many people who knew him. In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his brothers Miguel and Juan Bermudez. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Kathleen, he is survived by son Martin C. (Abbey) Bermudez; son James Bermudez; granddaughter Rayleigh Staba; grandson Dylan Bermudez; step-grandson Justin Simmons; step-granddaughter Thea Simmons; brothers Rafael, Miguel "Taro" and Tonin Bermudez; several nieces, nephews, cousin, and dear friends Gary (Faith) Rechichi and Sergio Carrera.
Kathleen “Nana" Bermudez, 70, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of Homosassa, FL., passed away on June 16, 2021 in Lecanto, FL. Kathy was born on May 9, 1951 in Rochester, New York to Elmer and Helen (Jones) McDonald and was married to Martin Bermudez in Rochester, NY on May 16, 1970. Kathy had a 20+ year career with Kodak in Rochester, NY, in the roll coating department. She was a member of Loyal Order of Moose #2013, Homosassa, FL. Kathy was a loving wife to Martin, a respected and hardworking woman, and an incredible mother to Marty and Jimmy. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren sharing her passion for cooking and baking. Kathy was also a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan. She will be sadly missed by the many people who knew her. In addition to her parents, Kathy was recently preceded by her husband, Martin Bermudez. Kathleen is survived by son Martin C. (Abbey) Bermudez; son James Bermudez; granddaughter Rayleigh Staba; grandson Dylan Bermudez; step-grandson Justin Simmons; step-granddaughter Thea Simmons; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, and dear family friends Gary (Faith) Rechichi; Sergio Carrera; Beverly Koewler; Kenneth Neel; and Nancy Boxell.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the lives of Marty and Kathleen on Friday, August 20th, 5-8pm at the funeral home of ALVAH HALLORAN & SON. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 21, at 11am.
