Bertha Yarnell

Bert passed away on May 13, 2026 in Greenwood, IN. She was born on April 6,1929 in Indiana, PA to Joseph & Mary Solinski.

Along with her husband, Burt (He-Burt), Bert (She-Bert) enjoyed auto racing long before NASCAR began, traveling to Daytona Beach for the Daytona 500, and spending summers at their “camp” in Slippery Rock, PA. Bert also was an avid fan of her favorite team, the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Bert worked at Optometric Care, Inc. in Aliquippa, PA for 58 years. She began with Dr. Milton Eger. OD, when he first opened his practice. She was still working when Dr. Eger’s son, Arnold Eger, OD, retired from the same practice.

Bert is survived by her daughter, Candy (Dale) Ostlie & her son, Richard (Ingrid) Yarnell, her grandchildren Cathrin (Frank) Verano, Michael Ostlie and Megan Ostlie, and her great-grandson, Gabriel Verano, as well as many nieces & nephews.

Bert was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Burt T. Yarnell, her siblings, Nelda Buggy, Betty Marasco, JoAnn Mike, Roger Solinski, Joseph Solinski, Jr. & Alfred “Short” Solinski.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 18, 2026 from 1pm until the time of funeral services at 2pm at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074.

Family & friends are invited to share their memories and photos during a luncheon at the same location immediately following the service.
