

Hebert Lewis Wagner, 91, of Economy Borough, passed away peacefully, while under the compassionate care of the staff at Villa St. Joseph. He was born March 28, 1921 in Warrendale, PA, son of the late George and Margaret (Trimbel) Wagner. Herbert proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a Gunnery Instructor, Airplane and Engine Mechanic as well as an Aerial Engineer.
Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began working with H.H. Robertson as a press operator, retiring after 46 years of service. In his leisure, Herbert enjoyed hunting and fishing; and quiet moments at home working crossword puzzles. He was a member of Economy United Methodist Church where he faithfully served as a Lay Leader and a Lay Speaker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Joan Amy Wagner; three brothers: Arthur, Orville and Lester; five sisters: Edna, Emma, Hazel, Harriet and Viola.
He is survived by his loving wife: Ethel (Hendrickson) Wagner, with whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this November; two sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald Lewis (Marilyn) Wagner, Oshkosh, WI; Kenneth Neil (Laura) Wagner, New Sewickley Township; six grandchildren: Laura, Mark, Katrina, Emma, Scott and Eric.
Friends will be received Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the funeral home with Pastor William “Bill” Steel, officiating. Military Honors will be presented by members of the Beaver County Special Unit on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Private entombment will follow in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
