
Joseph L. Hayes, 91, of Independence Township, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. He was born February 15, 1919 in Metz, West Virginia, son of the late Clinton and Flossie (Hallobaugh) Hayes. Joseph proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He retired from L.T.V. Steel where he had worked as a tool grinder.
Joseph was first, and foremost, a family man; he loved spending time with his wife Margaret. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed bowling, hunting and camping. For the many years he was able, Joe always planted and tended to his garden. He was a likeable man who would help anyone who needed a hand.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by four brothers: Ray, Glen, Lawrence and Harold; and his sister: Margaret Hinerman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years: Margaret (Kennedy) Hayes; his daughter: Janet Hayes, Billings, Montana; two grandchildren: Ryan (Cassie) Fallang and Amanda Fallang; a great grandson: Dillan; four nephews: William Hayes of Florida; James (Lila) Hinerman, Daugherty Twp.; Larry Hinerman, Daugherty Twp.; Dennis (Susan) Hinerman, Cranberry; a niece: Peggy (Fred) Moravec, Monaca; many loving great nieces, great nephews and loving family through marriage.
Friends will be received Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 1 to 2 p.m., in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., in the funeral home, immediately following the visitation, with Rev. Randall Clow, New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, officiating.
