
Lila Dawn Libengood, 88, of Long Beach, Mississippi, formerly of New Brighton, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at her residence. She was born March 10, 1926 in Beaver Falls, daughter of the late Wilbert and Wilma (Henderson) Shanor.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of New Brighton where she enjoyed participating in the sewing and quilting circle. She was a member of the Daugherty Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Lila was gifted with great organizational skills and often assisted in coordinating events at the McNitt Apartments, New Brighton, where she lived before moving south. In her leisure she was an avid reader.
As a woman of faith, family was the focal point of her life. She was the proverbial glue that held them together and the foundation that supported their strong family values. Lila was always there to help or nurture her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William in 1992; her son: Bill on May 19, 2013; her brother: Wilbert and sister: Gerry Boris.
Lila is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Jack and Janice Libengood, Washington D.C.; David and Nancy Libengood, Evans City, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and Lee Waddingham, New Brighton; Beverly and Mark Chiodo, Jacksonville, FL; her devoted daughter-in law, who provided loving care and with whom she resided: Leona Libengood, Long Beach, MS; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
Friends will be received Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held at noon, immediately following the visitation with the Rev. Frank A. Kantz, officiating. Private interment will be in the John F.
