

Robert Richard Johnson of Calcutta, OH passed away at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Fallston, PA on September 12th, 1936. The son of Edward Johnson and Elizabeth Graham Johnson. He was a hard working man who worked at B&W in Beaver Falls and retired from Unifab Machine Shop in Enon Valley, PA in 2003, where he met his good friend Jeff Hahn. In his retirement, he worked as a janitor at DCI Career Institute and at Center Township Retirement Homes until 2015. Bob was always the life of the party, cracking jokes, telling stories, and never turned down a request to play and sing an old country song on the guitar, he went on his lunch break and sang on WBVP Radio, and in the early 80's he played and sang in a band called 'Lost Legends.' He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, shooting pool, and spoke proudly of the years he spent in the Navy. In his later years, he enjoyed crossword puzzle books, building jigsaw puzzles, and traveling with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Frank, Chuck, Jack, Rosalie (Pete), Betty, and Helen Johnson, daughter Drenda Johnson Rea, and a granddaughter Kayla McDanel.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Darlene Watson Johnson, and 9 step children, William (Selena) Eichenberger; Kathy McDanel; Robert (Sunny) McCuean; Carrie Stone; Pam (Willie) Stone; Richard (Charlene) Stone; Curt (Brittany) Stone; Glenda (Sam) Ward; Robbie Blymiller, 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and Family will be received on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 for full military honors at 1pm, followed by visitation until the time of funeral services at 4 pm at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074.
