

Thomas S. Gumpf Sr., age 95, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Thomas was born April 4, 1927, he was the son of the late John N. and Elizabeth (Slater) Gumpf. Tom proudly served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theatre of Operations with the U.S. Navy. He was a Plankholder on the Naval Destroyer 'U.S. Duncan', of which he was the last surviving member. After the Navy, he served an additional 27 years in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. Tom was a postal carrier for 32 years in Beaver Falls, he was a member of the McKinley Schoolhouse Historical Society, he was very handy and creative, always working with his hands, he enjoyed landscaping, and mowing the grass at his home until the age of 94. He enjoyed being a snowbird with his wife, spending the better part of the last 20 winters in Florida, where they commonly entertained family and friends. Tom's greatest joy in life was spending time with family. He touched the lives of many people with his friendly and caring ways.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathryn (Young) Gumpf; one daughter; Terri (David) Farr; two sons; Robert (Lisa) Gumpf and Ronald (Erin) Gumpf; eleven grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother; John Gumpf, as well as two sons from his first marriage; Tom and Tim.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Herbert Gumpf.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022 from 11am until the time of funeral services at 1pm at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Full Military Honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church of Darlington, rebuilding fund.
