David Ross Erickson, 66, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2010 after battling many serious illnesses. He was born October 13, 1943 in Rockford to Harold and Phyllis (Burdick) Erickson. He was a graduate of Auburn High School. He served in the Air Force in Europe, was a member of the all-Europe baseball team and an overall sports fanatic. Married Judy Hauch on October 25, 1969. He attended Ozark Bible College. He and his wife Judy served the Lord as house parents in Erie, IL and Switz City, IN. He was a current member of Calvary Christian Church serving as an Elder and a Sunday School Teacher and was a former member of Central Christian Church. Survivors include wife Judy; children, Kim (Peter) Getter, Karie (Steven) Palm and Kurt (Jenn) Erickson; brothers, Paul (Donna), Rusty and sisters, Carol (Dick) Hamer and Beth Weaver. He is also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7000 W. State St. Funeral Services at 11 am on Thursday, October 14, 2010 in Central Christian Church, 6595 Guilford Rd, with Pastor Steven Doyle officiating. There will be an hour visitation prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
