Donald "Don" R. Schmoll

Donald “Don” Ray Schmoll, 65, of Machesney Park, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 26, 2018. Born May 26, 1953 in Freeport, Illinois. Son of Raymond and Deloris (Calam) Schmoll. United in marriage to Karen Higgins on August 27, 1976. Owner and operator of Don’s Welding Service Inc. Don was a diehard Nascar fan following Jeff Gordon’s career. Together with Karen they traveled to various speedways to watch Nascar; Charlotte being their favorite. In his younger years he enjoyed racing in Freeport driving the #1 car. Don loved gambling and going to Las Vegas. By far his favorite pastime was spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen; children, Wanda (Kevin) Conrad, Arnie Schmoll, Don (Becky) Schmoll II; grandchildren, Alexandra Stiles, Zachrey Kern, Tyler Schmoll, Braydin Whitehead, Katelyn Schmoll; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Green, Isabella Stiles and on the way baby Phoebe; special dog, Hannah. Predeceased by his mom, Deloris Schmoll; aunts; uncles; cousins and special cousin, Karen Sue Schmoll.

Celebration of life Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 30 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000, West State St, Rockford.
