James H. Sterner Sr. 81, of Winnebago IL, passed away August 16, 2021. He was born on October 19, 1939 in Rockford to Delay and Laura Sterner. James knew the value of good work ethic. He spent many years as a firefighter at the Blackhawk Fire Department. He established Sterner Screw Machine Inc. and spent over 40 years as a dedicated business owner in the Rockford area. James enjoyed woodworking, and had a love for building things. He was a smooth talker and a sharp dresser. He married Patricia A. Stuckey on June 13, 1959. He was a loving father, and grandfather. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his children; James Sterner Jr., Matthew Sterner, Mark Sterner, Laura (Richard) Mason, grandchildren; Kristen (Martin Marco) Mason and Kamryn Mason, and sister; Doris Sterner.
He is predeceased by his wife; Patricia Sterner, son; Robert Sterner, as well as brother John, sisters Ruth, Mary, Margaret, Lois and Dorothy. A funeral service for James is scheduled for August 20, 2021 at 10am at Advantage Funeral Home. Located at 7000 W. State St. Rockford IL 61102. A visitation will take place at 9am until the time of service. Burial to follow in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Youth Services Network or Win-Bur-Sew Fire Department.
